Furuya left Yokohama Harbor on September 29, 1973 and got via Moscow to Vienna. Since then he has lived in Austria.
At the end of March 1975, Furuya visited Istanbul with two friends. During his approximately one-week stay, he took some photos, which he did not really enlarge until 2016.
Furuya was back in Istanbul in 2017. The exciting TV news about Istanbul / Turkey prompted him to return 42 years later.
