Photographs taken by Christine and Komyo Furuya with a pocket-camera in 1978, 1981, 1982, and 1985. The conversation between Christine and Seiichi was recorded in 1978. Screening time: 19 minutes
In 1978 Seiichi Furuya got a pocket-camera as an advertisement item from KODAK company at the Fotokina-fair in Koln. At that time Christine worked at the restaurant “Wienerwald” as holiday-job in Böblingen near Stuttgart. After his job at the Fotokina he visited Christine in Böblingen und they returned together to Graz by train. The first picture with this pocket-camera was made by Christine in the train at the station of Stuttgart. Seiichi presented her this pocket-camera. She took picture from time to time in 1978 and again from 1981 frequently after birth of their son Komyo. During their stay in Vienna from June 1982 till May 1984 she didn’t take picture with pocket-camera. She was very busy with her acting studies. In 1985 she started again to use this camera and took some pictures in Venice, Graz and East Berlin, the last station of her life.
In 1978 Christine started to learn Japanese mostly by herself. Seiichi helped her very rarely. He was/is impatient. In 2018 Seiichi has found many recording tapes that Christine had recorded in the years 1978 to 1983. Some of them are from “Let’s learn Japanese”.
