Toward the end of 2005, FURUYA made up his mind to read Christine’s personal notes for the first time, but as these were written by hand, in German, they were indecipherable to him and he asked a woman student to copy them out. He remained in his Paris studio for two months from January 2006, until he completed the Japanese translation. He combined Christine’s notes with his photographs, these sometimes working in unison, sometimes creating variations on the theme, as he looked back on the year 1983. In 2007 he was awarded the 19th Society of Photography (Japan) Award for this work.
